Autism Spectrum Disorders

Information packs about Autism Spectrum Disorders are to be distributed throughout Scotland after a successful pilot in Argyll. Two packs - one for parents and another for social care staff - contain information about all aspects of ASD and contacts for advice and support in each locality. The Scottish Centre for Autism study is getting 53,000 from the Scottish Executive to look at issues such as family and developmental history and to undertake a case-note review of children diagnosed with ASD. Meanwhile, NHS Education for Scotland is receiving 80,000 to develop educational resources about ASD for GPs and primary care teams.
