Be a whizz!

If you've felt inspired by scenes of the fun everybody seemed to be having at last month's London Marathon, the charity Whizz-Kidz is offering free flights for sponsored runners to take part in the New York City Marathon on 4 November. But closer to home, Whizz-Kidz is offering a free pack of party and fundraising ideas for 'A Bit of a Do'. The charity is encouraging people to hold a picnic, barbeque, children's party or any kind of get-together this summer at which to raise money for its work with disabled children, and it will show you how. Whizz-Kidz provides customised wheelchairs, tricycles and other specialised mobility equipment with the aim of giving even very young disabled children greater movement and independence (see Nursery World, 10 May) -and helps some kids fly as high as the London Eye (left). To find out how to do a do, call Tamsin on 020 7233 9696.
