Chaseltine Primary School in Lewisham

(Photograph) - Children are growing their own vegetables in a sensory outdoor area at Haseltine Primary School in Lewisham, south London, thanks to funding from Lewisham Borough Council and the Royal Horticultural Society's 'Flourish' scheme, which aims to make gardening accessible to every child in the UK and offers practical advice and help to early years settings. Haseltine's garden features raised beds, a 'shipwrecked' boat in sand, birch trees and herbs. Head teacher Richard Edmonds said, 'Our outdoor classroom is already helping us to develop successful, confident learners.' For information contact Claire Dudley on 01483 479 728 or flourish@rhs.org.uk.
