Children and teachers should be involved in the design of classrooms

Children and teachers should be involved in the design of classrooms as part of a move to take a fresh look at school buildings, education minister Cathy Jamieson said last week. They will get a chance to influence the design of the classroom of the future at two workshops in the new year organised by the Scottish Executive. Ideas from teachers and children will be published and become part of the template for those involved in school building projects. Ms Jamieson said, 'We have just embarked on the first phase of the biggest ever school building programme - a 1.15bn package of investment that will deliver 300 new or refurbished schools.'
