Rebecca Green, project manager of Early Reading Connects, said that around 30 new members a week are joining the scheme.
'To be able to reward our 1,000th member with a prize to help them continue their brilliant work is such a pleasure,' she said.
The DCSF-funded project was launched last October with the aim of instilling a love of language and reading in young children. It is based on the four themes of the EYFS (News, 11 September).
The website at www.earlyreadingconnects.org.uk offers ideas, case studies and forums for practitioners to share tips and advice.
Bayswater Children's Centre manager Sally Rivlin said she was excited about putting the project's tips into practice, particularly with dual-language families in the local community, who include many Bengali and Arabic speakers.
