Reading scheme homes in on early years

Specific information for practitioners working with children from birth to three has been added to the National Literacy Trust's Early Reading Connects project.

The Family Involvement toolkit now features sections specific to those working with younger children and case studies that reflect the diversity of early years settings.

New members who join the ERC project will receive the updated toolkit.

Rebecca Green, project manager for Early Reading Connects, said, 'The last toolkit was aimed more at practitioners working with children aged three to five and the case studies only reflected school settings.

'We enlisted help from Talk to Your Baby to ensure the new toolkit was more practical for working with younger children and case studies reflected different early years settings'.

Since the launch of Early Reading Connects in September 2008 almost 2,500 settings, including childminders and children's centres, have become members.
