Don't whinge, find solutions

In response to the nursery nurse who battles to be recognised (27 June), if your colleague feels you are an asset and shouldn't be described as a helper, tackle your job description with your employer. Ask to be included in staff meetings. Enrol on an Open University course or equivalent and let your employer know you are strengthening your knowledge and qualifications.

Teachers themselves are struggling to receive the acknowledgment they deserve in society and, until attitudes change, the reality is that nursery nurses are likely to continue to be seen as assistants for quite some time.
