Early years practitioners paid to train with artists

Children's artistic expression will get a boost following the launch by early years organisation NIPPA of a 340,000 Early Years Arts Initiative in partnership with the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. The initiative has been financed by the Arts Council's lottery fund and consists of two separate projects - a series of arts programmes for the early years costing 250,000 and a training programme costing Pounds 90,000. The training will be delivered by NIPPA and enable artists and early years practitioners to combine their skills to help young children express themselves through art and movement.

Siobhan Fitzpatrick, chief executive of NIPPA, said, 'Last year NIPPA engaged an artist to work with four early years settings and implement the renowned Reggio Emilia learning approach.
