It is aimed at childcare professionals rather than parents and it covers healthy eating, nutrition, food choices, diet and health, feeding strategies and food safety and hygiene.

Case studies from childcare settings offer practical ideas to form menu plans incorporating all aspects of a balanced diet. There are a number of charts and diagrams, which are not always easy to understand - but nutrition can be complex. The depth that this book goes into is, at times, daunting and can make children's diets sound more complicated than they need to be. But this book rightly takes this subject seriously and even tackles other issues, although some of these are controversial, such as behaviour strategies surrounding food and mealtimes.
