Five-month consultation on the physical punishment of children in the home begins in Northern Ireland

A major five-month consultation on the physical punishment of children in the home has begun in Northern Ireland. At its launch in Belfast, finance and personnel minister Mark Durkan said, 'We know that the existing law on physical punishment in the home does not offer children enough protection... No change is not an option.'
