Foundation help for PVI sector

The National Day Nurseries Association has been awarded a grant by the Welsh Assembly government to fund an early years development officer working with private, voluntary and independent sector settings to support the development of the Foundation Phase. The new role for Kevin Williams will be to help early years settings prepare for the changes introduced by Wales' Foundation Phase.

The new role for Kevin Williams will be to help early years settings prepare for the changes introduced by Wales' Foundation Phase.

Mr Williams, who has 15 years' experience in childcare and previously worked as a children's partnership co-ordinator and as a social worker, said, 'This is an exciting time for children and for the whole education system. The Foundation Phase allows children to develop at their own pace without forcing learning on them.

'I will be working and speaking with many settings over the coming months to discover what help they need. The NDNA will share this feedback with the Welsh Assembly to help ensure that nurseries get the necessary support now and in the future.'
