Fraud made easy

I have only been working as a registered childminder since September, but already I have had two people who are claiming the childcare tax credit element of Working Families Tax Credit leave without paying. It was only after I hired a solicitor that I managed to get some of the money I was owed for providing childcare. Regarding the news story 'Providers lose case for direct tax credit' (News, 7 March), I fully support the call for the money to be paid direct to the carer. The Government goes on so much about fraud within the system, and then just hands out money in this unaccountable way. It is completely un-believable.
