Get in the pink

October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month is just round the corner, and raising money and awareness not only supports those living with breast cancer, it's good for your health too. Whether you fancy Pink Aerobics in Regent's Park, abseiling down the Manchester Velodrome or trekking in Brazil, there are plenty of active ways to get involved. On a smaller scale and closer to home, holding a special themed event such as a party with pink food and drinks, or dressing in pink for a day, are just some of the fundraisers suggested by Breast Cancer Care, the charity providing free information and support services, as well as nursing support for younger women diagnosed with the disease. For health information or for an In the Pink pack, including posters, sponsorship forms and a fundraising guide, call 0870 164 9422 or log on to www.breastcancercare.org.uk. Now is the time for all women to take steps to reduce their risk of breast cancer; see our feature next month on breast health to find out more.
