As breast cancer has such a high profile in this country, it's understandable that any problem associated with the breast can make us feel anxious. So it's reassuring to know that nine out of ten lumps investigated at breast clinics will turn out to be benign (non-cancerous). Even so, each year the disease claims almost 13,000 lives in the UK. Women of all ages should know how to take care of their breasts, and one of the most important things you can do is to practise self-examination.
