The Happy Times nurseries in Battersea and Fulham closed on Friday, with reports suggesting that staff were given just one hour's notice that they were to lose their jobs. Staff then had to tell parents of the closure when they came to collect their children from the nurseries. Parents are said to be owed thousands of pounds in fees.
The Happy Times nursery group opened its first branch in 1997. By 2006 the nursery chain had four settings - in Hammersmith, Battersea, Fulham and Richmond - and catered for 551 children. The Hammersmith branch later closed down and the Richmond nursery was sold in May.
