Reinforce children's counting skills through a listening activity.

To count reliably to five.

Adult:child ratio: 1:6.

Resources

Metal cup or bowl, five wooden or metal beads, a table, two lengths of fabric, and a screen.

Activity content

* Place the bowl and beads on the table and cover the screen with a curtain. Children will enjoy the activity all the more as a magic show - a magician's hat or cloak can help too!

* Ask the children to watch and listen as you drop the beads into the bowl.

Repeat, counting as you drop them.
