In brief...A new NVQ assessment centre in Belfast

A new National Vocational Qualifications assessment centre has opened in Belfast on the premises of Whiterock Children's Centre at the Belfast Institute for Further and Higher Education. The centre provides NVQ assessment for Level 2 and 3 in Early Years Care and Education/Playwork. At the opening of the centre, Dr Sean Farren, minister for higher and further education, training and employment, said, 'To provide good quality childcare to as many people as possible, we need greater numbers of trained and qualified workers with the appropriate skills and knowledge.' Whiterock Children's Centre was originally set up in 1988 as a creche for parents returning to education.
