In brief...Childcare for lone fathers

Childcare for lone fathers was addressed by delegates at a conference in London last week by the single parents group Gingerbread. The charity's Margaret Creear called on employers to help lone fathers with childcare provision and costs, including the 30 per cent not covered by the childcare tax credit element of Working Families Tax Credit. A Gingerbread survey found that 52 per cent of single fathers used childcare and wanted it to help them further their education and training, and that 13 per cent of lone fathers had children aged under five.
