In brief...NSPCC's new safety campaign

16 May 2001

Children taking part in social and sporting activities outside the home are the focus of a new safety campaign by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. The NSPCC is calling for clubs to ensure they have child protection procedures in place. Karen Wright, divisional director of the NSPCC in Northern Ireland, said, 'Many leisure organisations are only just beginning to address their child protection roles. Some are unregulated and use lots of volunteers. They could provide easy access to abusing adults, including paedophiles.'
