Parents and children are being urged to walk to school during the week of 21 to 25 May as part of an annual Walk to School event. Brian Smith, chairman of the National TravelWise Association, which organises the road safety event along with the Pedestrians Association, said, 'We are also trying to promote more exercise to prevent health problems in later life, to encourage the habit of walking for short journeys and to find out more about the environment.'
