Government moves to increase integration of special needs children in mainstream settings have still left many children in private nurseries with few opportunities to play with children who have disabilities. But one private nursery in Goodmayes, Essex, has set up a partnership with a nearby special needs school to promote understanding and acceptance.

Government moves to increase integration of special needs children in mainstream settings have still left many children in private nurseries with few opportunities to play with children who have disabilities. But one private nursery in Goodmayes, Essex, has set up a partnership with a nearby special needs school to promote understanding and acceptance.

On Wednesdays children from Just Learning Nursery join the reception class at the Ethel Davis Special Needs School for swimming sessions in the school pool. And on Fridays, the reception class pays a return visit to Just Learning Nursery, at King George Hospital, to share the facilities and fun.
