JACE gets full marks from the inspectorate

JACE Training and Assessment Centre, the Surrey-based training arm of the Jancett group of day nurseries, has been given the thumbs-up by the Adult Learning Inspectorate for its provision of work-based learning. JACE provides training for its own group of nurseries, and for external nurseries in south London, central London, Surrey and Sussex, offering the foundation and advanced modern apprenticeship programmes in early years care and education at Level 2 and 3 NVQ. It also carries out training for local early years and childcare development partnerships.

The inspectors' report, published at the end of February, commended both JACE's off-the-job and on-the-job training. It praised JACE's range of resources, with attractive, welcoming sites, well-equipped training rooms and well-qualified, experienced staff, in both training and assessing roles.

The inspectors were also impressed by JACE's effective communications systems, which include a developing intranet and e-mail system, and monthly management meetings. The report observed that the centre had a clear and well-defined equal opportunities policy, and an effective quality assurance system, whereby extensive evaluation of all aspects of the training programmes was used to improve their effectiveness.
