Keep records on staff

Employing numerous staff to maintain ratios is an arduous but necessary task. It starts when a vacancy arises and you: * pay for recruitment advertising

* pay for recruitment advertising

* spend time going through application forms checking qualifications and experience

* invite applicants for an interview, then a second interview, a trial afternoon and so on

* give it careful consideration and offer the position to the most suitable applicant.

It should stop there but then, what if that person walks out without a word, reports you to Ofsted (who find the claims to be unsubstantiated) as some kind of revenge for reasons unbeknown to you and leaves you with confused and demoralised children, parents and staff ?

I feel, as manager of an ever improving nursery, that a database needs to be held on every childcare practitioner, holding information such as conduct, performance and reliability, both good and bad. Let's name and shame these unfit practitioners and not the nurseries and their dedicated staff that are left to pick up the pieces.
