STAR LETTER - NO VOTE FOR TICK BOXES

I read your magazine not as an EYP but as a mother of three childrenunder the age of five. I read constantly in your pages of the importanceof play for young children but struggle to find this implemented inpractice, especially in the reception class environment.

My eldest son started reception class at the local school in Septemberat the age of four years and nine weeks old. I would have kept him outuntil January, but our county has a single intake policy and we feltfrom a socialising point of view he would find it harder to settle in ifhe did not start in the September.
