NDNA’s Healthy Body, Happy Me campaign returns

Thousands of children will be baking healthy cakes and holding Strictly Kids Dancing events as part of NDNA’s annual health and wellbeing week, from 18 to 24 April.

The Healthy Body, Happy Me campaign is run by the National Day Nurseries Association and maps out a week’s worth of fun activities – designed to teach children about the importance of physical and emotional health.

Activity ideas are provided free and themed around each day:

Monday – Eat well, feel fantastic! All about healthy eating, send in your recipes and photos

Tuesday – Caring for our bodies Look after your body by brushing your teeth, and try a great activity which shows children what germs on hands do to our food

Wednesday – Magic movers Take part in Strictly Kids Dancing, teaching the children a basic routine, then let them judge you with scoring paddles, or hold your own Mini Olympics

Thursday – The great outdoors Build a den, go planting seeds, make a weather station

Friday – Reflection Friday After all the busy activity, relax with a good story told by a visiting family member, or make puppets and look at emotions

Saturday and Sunday – Family weekend Get out and get active with the whole family, try a springtime walk or a trip to the seaside

Activity booklets are also free to download from the website for all UK nurseries and settings, thanks to the sponsorship of Hope Education and Citation Professional Solutions.

Hundreds of nurseries have already signed up to take part, and those who register will be in with a chance to win NDNA books Healthy Snacks and Let’s Bake and Create.
