New support for dealing with migrant children

A network to support professionals working with the children of migrant workers has been set up by Children in Wales.

The charity hopes that the network will allow childcare, health andeducation professionals to help children and young people deal with thechallenges of coming to a new country.

The inaugural network meeting took place at the Children in Walesoffices in Cardiff on Tuesday (3 June).

The network will provide a forum for professionals to share informationand seek solutions.

Common problems for the children of migrant workers includehomesickness, adapting to new surroundings, and learning a new language.Cultural differences can also make it difficult for children to adjustquickly.
