Not cheap for us

I work in an infant school as a teaching assistant and I feel very hurt that we are looked on as a cheap alternative. I am qualified to nursery nurse standard, having completed an NVQ 3 in Childcare and Education. I have also enrolled on a degree course. These courses have been paid for out of my own pocket.

This environment has given me much satisfaction and self-confidence, for which I will always be grateful. At the same time, however, we can be taken for granted and misused, as well as being very low-paid.

The teachers I have worked with have been very supportive, asking if I am happy with certain situations. They even ask for my opinion regarding children whom I work with closely and probably get to know better than other professionals.
