- Write way to lapland

Parents are being asked to write children's stories as part of anationwide competition to encourage parental involvement in story time,organised by Munch Bunch. Winners will have their stories publishedonline for parents and children to download, and the chance to win anall-expenses-paid trip to Lapland. Television presenter Gail Porter isthe voice of Munch Bunch's newest character Munch the Cow, and narratorof the winning stories.

- Hand-wash poster

Children under 11 are being invited to design a hand-washing poster aspart of a campaign to reduce threadworm, organised by pharmaceuticalcompany Thornton and Ross. The winning entries in the two categories,which are for children under seven and for seven to 11, will win aluxury art set, trophy and certificate and have their poster displayedin schools. The posters need to be A4 size and reflect the importance ofregular hand-washing. Closing date is 27 March 2009.Thornton and Rosshas also produced free materials for schools and nurseries.
