Nurseries across the country have been shivering their timbers forBarnardo's Big Toddle, with this year's theme being pirates. Children atPlaces for Children in Watford, Hertfordshire dressed as pirates andwalked around the local neighbourhood looking for treasure, whilechildren at Little Acorns in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, braved the wetweather in their new rain capes and walked to their local park.

GARDEN PARTY

Purnima Tanuku, chief executive of the National Day NurseriesAssociation joined staff at Red Balloon Day Nursery in Cobham, Surrey,to officially open the setting's newly designed garden. Other guestsincluded Tracey Rees and Val Williams from Surrey Early Years andChildcare Services. The nursery children entertained everyone at theevent with their production of 'The Enormous Turnip'.
