More than a year and a half ago, headteacher Marianne Robb first proposed the road safety project to the PTA. We then set about planning the scheme and raising funds to implement it.
The car is the main mode of transport in the area, and it was felt that there was a need for the children, especially those with special needs, to have regular opportunities to learn about road safety through their play.
In all we raised about 20,000, with the vast majority of the money coming through fundraising events we held, such as a disco, school fun days and a car boot sale, and the remainder through grants.
