*Story book *paper or card *laminate or self-adhesive covering *magnetic tape *magnetic board *relevant props Step by step

* Choose a book that the children like, such as Handa's Surprise by Eileen Browne (Walker Books, 4.99).

* Select the main characters and objects that are key to the story and draw, photocopy or scan them on to paper (keep originals for future copies).

* Cut out the pictures and laminate or paste on to card, and cover in self-adhesive book covering.
