Two research teams, one based in England and the other in Australia, present cross-cultural evidence about very young children engaging with the power of print.

It includes a fascinating account of early literacy learning in the four cultures studied: Australia, Singapore, England and France. As a practitioner, I was inspired and challenged by the chapter on Changing Childhoods as well as the one on Play Approaches to Early Literacy Learning. They broadened my perspectives and re-affirmed the principles of good practice.
