People working in early years

People working in early years have been urged to tell the Government their ideas about the future of the sector through the Big Conversation, launched last week by prime minister Tony Blair. Daycare Trust director Stephen Burke said, 'The Big Conversation gives families the chance to talk about the childcare challenges they face and what Government can do to make life better for children and parents.' A recent Daycare Trust report, The Childcare Challenge Project, based on consultation with families in Cornwall, Greenwich, Middlesbrough and Sefton, found they wanted childcare near their homes, to know their children were safe and happy, affordable childcare, choice of provision, and to be able to balance their work and family commitments.
