Poster idea chimes with nursery

The children we care for were incredibly inspired by the Hickory Dickory Dock poster in a recent issue of Nursery World (3 August), so much so that they made their own clock! It could not have been easier. The children designed and built it themselves and we just helped.

It could not have been easier. The children designed and built it themselves and we just helped.

This is how we did it: 1 We got boxes from a supermarket and taped them together.

2 We then covered the box structure in papier mache.

3 This was then painted with a white base coat.

4 We bought a large clock, took it apart and painted it, then refitted hands.

5 The clock was then attached to the box structure and painted.

6 We attached numbers around the clock and printed titles and the nursery rhyme to the body of the clock.
