Problems with obtaining childcare this summer

The Kids' Club Network has warned that parents are likely to face problems getting childcare this summer, as most out-of-school clubs are fully booked. Chief executive Anne Longfield said, 'Every summer our information line is inundated with calls from parents desperate to find safe, affordable and reliable childcare in their area and this year is no different. The Government's national childcare strategy has got out-of-school childcare off to a flying start. However, it has become a victim of its own success. Demand has risen far more quickly than out-of-school clubs have been created.' The KCN is calling for an out-of-school club at every primary school, bringing the UK total to 20,000.
