Marie Aldridge covers all you need to encourage children's skills in role play - basic vocabulary lists for each scenario, resources needed, ways you can link in with the Foundation Stage curriculum, frameworks for planning and extending your own ideas.

She has taken the most common and familiar role-play scenarios (house, health care, shops and services, transport and journeys and familiar stories) and provided a treasure trove of ideas and suggestions for developing role play.

She also includes an observation focus, helping to pinpoint children's skills and giving practical ideas for ways of taking their development forward.

The book's subtitle says it is aimed at teachers and assistants, but I think this readership could be extended to other early years professionals and students on placement.
