Qualified to teach

Further to Wendy Anderson's letter ('Shame on councils', 5 February), nursery nurses deserve to be recognised for the work they do, but it is not the same job as a nursery teacher. She points out that there is an incredible amount of paperwork - that is what the teacher is responsible for, and without stringent planning the nursery would simply not operate. As a nursery teacher, I value the work of nursery nurse colleagues and hope this feeling is reciprocated. But my training and qualifications are entirely different to theirs, and this is reflected in our salaries.
