This is a book well worth reading. It is one of a series written by various early years experts and edited by Professor Tina Bruce. The series provides expert advice in practical ways that will appeal to all those concerned with under-eights and this book certainly continues in that vein. It looks at materials ('stuff') given to children in early years settings and takes a critical look at the assumptions early years workers make about sand, water, paints, blocks, the home area and so on. The most important message given by the author is that practitioners should be continually questioning why they are providing certain materials and not be satisfied with provision because that's what was always provided.
