Scottish Curriculum

A new sexual health and relationships curriculum in Scotland, which teaches children as young as four about the different parts of the body, has received overwhelming support from pupils, parents and teachers.

Evaluation of the new curriculum piloted in 13 primary schools inGlasgow said that pupils found lessons to be interesting andenjoyable.

The aim of the new curriculum is to help encourage greater dialoguebetween school and home.

Lessons begin in P1 (Reception) with children being taught about all thedifferent parts of the body.

A spokesperson said, 'People working in nurseries and schools should beable to act as an early warning system. It is vital that they are giventhe training and skills they need to help them recognise the signs ofneglect and are able to respond.'
