Speed limits

I read with interest that 'news of speed nannying events have horrified some of our readers' (Professional Nanny, 28 April). I am fairly sure that Tinies is the only company that has organised these events, so I thought it sensible to set the record straight. It can be very difficult organising interviews when both the parents and nanny are working - late nights and Saturday mornings tend to be the norm.

It can be very difficult organising interviews when both the parents and nanny are working - late nights and Saturday mornings tend to be the norm.

Furthermore, many parents who come to agencies have not employed a nanny before and do not have a clear idea of who they are looking for.

The events have been hugely successful. Lots of parents have met lots of nannies in informal and relaxed settings. The initial meetings have, in many cases, led to formal interviews, second interviews, trial days and ultimately placements. Not a single offer of employment has been made at a speed nanny event, nor would you want it to be. The 30 speed nanny events have simply speeded up the recruitment process.
