Position: Childminder - the first in Derby to be graded Outstandingunder the new EYFS

- How does it feel to be the first in your area to be awardedOutstanding?

I am really excited and have been telling everyone about it. It was sucha surprise - I really didn't think that I would be graded Outstanding. Ithink the inspector could see the love I have for my job and see thateverything I do I centre around each child.

- How long have you been a childminder?

For the past four years, and I look after eight to nine childrenthroughout the year. I used to work as a nursery nurse but wanted togive more individual care and have more freedom, so I decided to followin a friend's footsteps and become a childminder.

- How will you continue your success?

I am doing a foundation degree with the Open University, which means Iwill be able to offer nursery education places for three- tofour-year-olds.
