Staff at Technotots nursery

Staff at Technotots nursery in Dundee were 'stunned and delighted' last week when the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care did a U-turn and said the nursery did not need the go-ahead from the commission to install a webcam so that working parents can view their children via the Internet (News, 10 October). The nursery received a letter from the Commission's head of legal services, Annabelle Fowles, which said that the Commission was bound by the terms of the Regulation of Care Act Scotland 2001 and that the use of the technology 'would not, in our view, amount to any variation in conditions of service and is therefore not a matter which requires the approval of the Care Commission'.
