Nursery World - Staff shine in Teddies nursery awards

Staff at a south-east London nursery are celebrating being named best overall nursery in an internal awards scheme.

Teddies Bexleyheath, a BUPA-owned nursery, outshone 34 nurseries in theTeddies chain at the Shine awards in February.

In July the setting was the first in the Teddies group to be gradedoutstanding by Ofsted.

Nursery manager Mandy Penfold said, 'We were very proud to win the bestoverall nursery award. As well as receiving an outstanding Ofstedrating, we also got 100 per cent in our annual parent satisfactionsurvey at the end of last year, so it shows all our hard work has paidoff.

'It's a huge boost to our staff's morale and it reinforces all thededication and hard work that has got us here today.'

Ms Penfold was also presented with a lifetime achievement award, alongwith Doreen Austin, a nursery nurse who has worked at the Bexleyheathsetting for 16 years. The lifetime achievement award recognises morethan five years of dedicated service.
