* Teddies Nurseries, which provides daycare for private health insurer BUPA, has achieved the Investor in People standard for its staff training.

The award was made on the basis of an assessment at the chain's head office in Twickenham, Middlesex, and seven of its 42 nurseries. The assessor's report praised Teddies for being 'unequivocally committed to its staff'.

Teddies' learning and development manager Tamsin Hodgkinson said the chain had achieved Investors in People status in 'well under 12 months' and described it as 'a huge achievement and a testament to the level of commitment that exists'.

She said Teddies would now be working towards the National Day Nurseries Association's Quality Counts kitemark, and hoped that this would lead ultimately to all Teddies nurseries achieving the Government's new Investors in Children status.

Ms Hodgkinson added, 'Quality childcare is about putting each individual child at the heart of our care. From the parent survey this year, our parents are telling us that they are happier than ever with the care and learning that Teddies childcare professionals are providing for their children.'
