Star event for Early Education

* Early Education celebrated its 80th anniversary last week at a reception in Westminster hosted by Sure Start minister Catherine Ashton. The reception was attended by members of Early Education branches from as far away as Pembrokeshire, Belffast and Aberdeen, as well as well-known figures of the early years world, and Lords, Ladies and MPs. Baroness Ashton praised Early Education and spoke of the Government's efforts on behalf of young children, including the appointments of Lesley Staggs - an Early Education vice-president - as the national director for the Foundation Stage, and Margaret Hodge as England's minister for children.
