Most recently at college we have been studying child observation. The main purpose of this is to support the care, learning and development of children in partnership with their families. This unit covers observing children, recording observational findings, assessing development and planning to promote development. Each week we were reminded to continue writing a weekly journal which helps us to understand and reflect on what we are learning about.
There are many reasons for carrying out observations.
Practitioners need to be able to do this effectively in order to watch the child progress, gauge their abilities and ensure that their communication is developing as it should.
