Taint of complaints

I have worked in childcare for 30 years. I am in full agreement that we should have a set of daycare standards to provide a consistent quality of service throughout the country. I have no objection to Ofsted inspectors arriving at any time at my nursery. What I do feel is unfair is the complaints system on the Ofsted report.

Complaints are put on the report even if the inspector was unable to find any factual evidence for them.

These complaints can be made by anybody - a dissatisfied parent, a member of staff who has left the establishment. I understand why each complaint has to be investigated. But why does the complaint have to be put on the inspection report each time?

If a complaint is well-founded, that should be continually recorded on the inspection report. If it is not founded, then I suggest Ofsted should consider that after a year it is removed from the report if there have been no further complaints.
