Trond Waage, who holds an equivalent post in Norway as the Ombudsman for Children, was one of the speakers, as was minister for education and young people Cathy Jamieson. The Scottish Executive has accepted that there is a good case in principle for a Children's Commissioner in Scotland and proposals are being developed by the education, culture and sport committee.
