The big picture: Gruffalo trails

Activities
This autumn, children can follow in the footsteps of the much-loved
children's book character the Gruffalo, thanks to some new activity
trails.

Twenty-four forest and woodlands across England have Gruffalo's Child activity trails, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the book of the same name by Julia Donaldson, with Axel Scheffler's illustrations.

The trails encourage children to search for animal tracks, create Gruffalo and animal footprints, build animal homes and find materials to keep them warm in winter.

Designed to support learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1, the trails link to Understanding the World, language development, sensory learning and numeracy.
