The big picture: Healthy habits

Stationhouse Nursery in Portishead and its sister nursery Lakehouse
are among some of the first nurseries in the South West to receive a
Children's Food Trust Award.

Owner and director Zoe Parsons said that working with the trust had helped to ensure that the nursery menus were well-balanced with interesting and exciting meals.

'We know the early years are a crucial time to develop healthy eating habits for the future, which is why we invest heavily in our chefs, source our food locally where possible, and prepare all meals on-site,' she said.

The nurseries also grows their own herbs, fruit and vegetables, to use in meals and snacks. 'Children of all ages get involved, from growing the plants to the preparation of the food itself.'
